Jules White's "Red Tullip" and Spencer Tunick's "Untitled" both really remind me of Daisy in "Daisy Miller." They both are in extremely vibrant color, and definitely stand out on the page. This is the way that I envision Daisy - standing out in whatever room she was in. She was definitely a very different girl for her time, and was often perceived as being more provocative than was deemed acceptable. Her personality was equivalent to this vibrant red dress or flower. However, while these two pictures make me take notice for good reasons, Daisy was not always so lucky.
Daisy gets the welcome from European society that seems a lot like what Americans get today. For the most part, Americans are perceived as either loud or just very different in other countries. Much like that, Daisy has to adjust to a different culture in Europe with different ideas of what a young lady should be doing. Our America culture breeds different people and different social norms that any other country, and Daisy definitely has to realize this. While she speaks openly about all her men callers from America, when she goes to Europe, her actions are unacceptable. To me, this generally represents the problems that Americans often have assimilating into different countries and leaving their "American-ness" behind. Like the two pictures, it seems that most of us will always stand out because of our American character.
